California Southern University A 30 Second Story About Michael Jordan
Step One – Outlining Your Story: Using Chapter 2 of Resonate, decide what quick, 30-second story you can tell to support the purpose of your Informative Presentation. Create an outline for your story using the three-act structure:
- Act 1: Set Up or Situation
- Act 2: Confrontation or Complication
- Act 3: Resolution
Step Two – Placing Your Story: Where does this story best fit? Should it go in the introduction as the hook or attention-getter for your Informative Presentation? Is it best layered into the body of the speech between one of your main points? Describe where you plan to place your story with respect to the Informative Presentation Outline you submitted in the Module 2 Discussion Forum.
Step Three – Delivering Your Story: First, practice delivering your story with a stopwatch so that you can ensure your story is approximately 30 seconds. This may involve tweaking small pieces within Acts 1, 2, and 3 of your Story Outline. Once you are confident in the length of your story, create a video presentation of yourself delivering the 30-second story.
