See the short foreign film “Most” (meaning “Bridge” in Czech) by clicking on the link below. In writing your essay, respond to the following questions. The father in this film is confronted with a moral dilemma. What is this dilemma? For the utilitarian, does the father make the right choice? Why or why not? Do you agree with the utilitarian about the father’s decision? Defend your answer with reasons.
The purpose of this assignment is to see that you know how to apply a moral theory to a problematic case. This is an important critical thinking skill. So, in writing the essay, make sure you show that you understand utilitarianism and how the theory would be applied to the father’s dilemma.
